Text in Spanish. A very few artists know how to bring renewal, but, in the Latin American arena, Francisco Mejía Guinand is one of those who do know. Born in Bogota, Colombia, in 1964, the artist has imbued his work with a unique character in which the geometric composition built from the combination of shape and colour frames the artist's path towards introspective exploration. Even though he is a graduated architect, Mejía Guinand has devoted most of his life to art, his conviction. He has also worked as a professor at several renowned universities in Colombia while he has developed a prolific career as a painter, which has taken him to show his work around the world, especially in the United States. His work, mostly abstract, is an invitation to introspection and reflection through large formats imbued with colour and light in which the energy of a redemption renewal for the contemporary plastic arts can be felt. Thus, this is a kind of alchemy between the spirit and painting. Painting is indeed the key that allows Francisco Mejía Guinand to be revealed, loaded with liberating magic, and an ocean of colour, shape and texture.
