ANIMAL TRACKING BASICS
[Jon Young & Tiffany Morgan]
Tracking wildlife successfully requires more than just looking for trails and scat. It requires an awareness of how an animal behaves in its environment -- how it finds food, travels, and rests. A tracker must know how to find and interpret behavioural clues animals leave behind. This how-to book teaches the basics of being a successful tracker -- explaining what to look for to find or identify an animal and how to develop an essential environmental awareness. Also describes ageing tracks and sign, understanding ecology and mapping, keeping field notes, using track tools, and making casts.

COLONIAL ANGLER'S MANUAL OF FLYFISHING & FLYTYING (NO RIGHTS UK)
[Ken Reinard]
Reinard combines his love of American history and fly fishing. Influenced by Izaak Walton and Charles Cotton, he examined collections of eighteenth-century tackle and verified the techniques of colonial fly fishers. The roots of today's fly fishing are evident in the classic fly materials, bamboo rods, and knots used by colonials.

Choosing a kayak, outfitting the craft with rod-holders, electronics, storage, anchoring systems, and more, plus techniques for fighting fish from the kayak and full safety guidelines are all covered in this book.

LABRADOR SHOOTING DOG
: Training the Labrador Retriever as an All-Around Sporting Dog
[Mike Gould]
A welcome departure from the prevailing methods of hunting-dog training, this guide explores more humane, spiritual, and effective Labrador retriever training techniques. Hunters are led from the beginning-selecting a puppy for athleticism, 'birdyness', conformation, intelligence, and personality-to understanding factors such as habitat, terrain, scenting conditions, and bird behavior. The end result is a happy, powerful, poised, and enthusiastic gun dog that can handle any challenge, including quail, grouse, doves, geese, ducks, and even wild turkeys.

DRIFT BOATS & RIVER DORIES
: Their History, Design, Construction & Use
[Roger L Fletcher]
This is the fascinating history of the river pioneers who designed, built, and used the early river dories and their successive incarnations. Author Roger Fletcher has collected stories, diaries, and photographs and recovered and recorded the lines and plans of these early boats before they were irretrievably lost. With marine artist Sam Manning's drawings, the book documents the traditional free-form method of drift-boat construction. Whether you are a fly fisherman who appreciates the gentle lapping of water on wood or a boat builder who wants to recreate a piece of history,
REVIEW: "There are two books here: a superbly written and beautifully illustrated history of the evolution of the original McKenzie River drift boat and its variations on the Rogue and Colorado rivers, and a how-to book on building a traditional drift boat and a number of variations. ...The technical half of this extraordinary book preserves an enormous amount of information about design and building techniques essential to drift-boat construction." -- Chris Camuto, Grey's Sporting Journal, February 2008.

FISHING FOR DREAMS
: Notes from the Water's Edge
[D C Reid]
In this collection of essays, veteran fisherman Dennis Reid's beautifully crafted prose and thoughtful approach offer readers an informed and absorbing introduction to some of British Columbia and Alberta's choicest sports-fishing destinations. From the Rockies to Barkley Sound, from the Columbia River gorge to the Queen Charlottes Islands, the places Reid visits and writes about are known and loved by globe-trotting fishers from all over the world. There are tales of the "ghosts of summer," summer steelhead that are spotted first by their shadows, of winter steelhead on the swung end of a spey cast, of motor-mooching among the boats gathered at northern saltwater rock walls, of the tug-of-war with galloping halibut. Conveying practical information in a lyrical style, Reid offers observations and commentary that will appeal to fans of such authors as Roderick Haig-Brown, Trey Combs, James Babb and Nick Lyons. Details about the fishing lodges featured in the essays will be included in an appendix, for those who wish to plan trips to those locations.

GUIDE TO SALMON FISHING
: The Best Fishing Holes of Campbell River & Barkley Sound
[Ed Rychkun]
There are eight simple considerations to successful salmon fishing. First you should be aware of the basic equipment required to be effective. Next, you must know a little about salmon and their habits. Third, you need to be aware of the most common lures and baits. The next consideration allows you to be independent -- a basic knowledge of setting up the key hooks and rigging. Fifth is knowing how to measure length of line and depth of water. Knowing the most successful local fishing techniques is sixth, and knowing how to read the water is number seven. Finally, you need to know were to take your boat. This is what this book is all about.

HOW TO CATCH REALLY BIG FISH
[Tara Robinson]
All right all you fisher-persons. I hear that most of you have read my first booklet and think that you know as much as me. But you are wrong. I have learned a lot since I did my first booklet. I've been to Seattle, Port Angeles, Neah Bay, Sekiu, Ucluelet, Tofino, Barkley Sound, Alberni, Nanaimo, Campbell River, as well as lots of little spots along the way. I even went to Fanny Bay. I am now eleven and I learned a lot in my travels. Also, my Dad invented a lot of new lures. My biggest fish last year was a 41.5 pound (19kg) Spring Salmon. This new book includes some of the details from my first booklet but I've added more big fish lures and stories. Besides my Dad's lures, it covers Tomic Plugs, Hot Spots, Riptide lures, Reef Raider lures and Buzz Bomb lures. I've also put in a small section on motor mooching strip and cut plug. I hope that by reading this book you will be catching lots of big fish like I do. The hardest fish to catch is the salmon so most of the book will deal with salmon fishing. Once you know all about catching salmon in salt water you can use this information to catch all types of large fish.

MASTER ANGLER
: Using Color Technology to Catch More Fish
[Phil Rabideau]
This is a guide to better fishing no matter your present skill level. It is for the serious fishermen who are not happy with their fishing success, as well as the fisherman who is frustrated and seeking answers to the many nagging questions the sport presents. "The Master Angler" is unique in that it addresses questions that must be answered before you even whet a line. It takes the guess work out of lure selection. The book starts first with understanding the physiology of fish and why they behave the way they do. It examines a lure’s attributes and guides you in the selection of the right lure. Trial and error fishing is eliminated, and the book teaches you how to select the right lure before the fist cast. The author has captured much of the science of fishing and condensed it to a practical level for the angler. All technical references are footnoted and supported by personal anecdotal experiences. Finally a book that teaches you what is needed to be a master angler.
